Grant Olson: The Space Trilogy #2

Grant Olson
Space Trilogy Discussion #2
C.S. Lewis incorporates a lot of himself into this story of Perelandra.  He put himself at the end of Out of the Silent Planet but we see him telling the story of Ransom, his good friend.  This has the reader believing how all of this could be real since the author included himself into the story.  This happened before anyone traveled to other planets which could give readers an insight that maybe Lewis did have a friend who had these stories.  Each narrative is its own story and this different story plays on how a novel like this could be true from a real human having interactions with this outside world.  Would adding himself into the story take away his credibility as an author?  I think that Lewis adding his narrative as a character in the novel creates a more realistic event that actually happened instead of another story created.  Being involved in the before, during, and after of these stories gives Lewis’ character a different perspective towards writing these books.  He is more credible and readers are able to see how ludicrous it would be if the author made this up.
