Not a Fan

Not a fan

In, Not a Fan, by Kyle Idleman, the topic of being a follower and not a fan of Jesus is discussed in depth. In the 7th chapter, Idelmen references the power of the Holy Spirit. He uses, John 16:7, "Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you", to point out the power of the Holy Spirit. He puts this power in stellar perspective. How often do we think the people of the Bible had it easier than us, especially those from the time of Jesus? We make the excuse that it was easy for them to follow Jesus because he was WITH them. In fairness, it seems like a perfectly logical point in basic concept. But, if we thinkithis way, we are greatly misunderstanding what the Holy Spirit is from the perspective of scripture..  The Holy Spirit is God living IN us, not just WITH us. Yes, people from Jesus' time had an awesome opportunity to be with Jesus, and when they were actually with Him they had no excuse. But, the opportunity and Power of the Spirit living in us is greater. I'm sure followers of Jesus during his time on earth would really loved to have experience of Jesus in them. We must stop being afraid of the Spirit. It is the greatest power on earth.
