Coming Into the Story
On page 153 in Out of the Silent Planet, C.S. Lewis speaks about Ransom not being able to tell other people about his experience on the aircraft after being drugged. Then Lewis comes into the story and wants Ransom to write his experience and tell others about it. However, after discussing it, they realize that if they attempt to explain it as being truth, nobody would believe them; so they decide to write it as fiction instead, in order to make people aware of the circumstances, regardless of if they saw them as being truth or fiction.
The point I want to touch on specifically, however, is when Lewis comes into the story. This is so fascinating to me that he did it at the moment that he did, which can be paralleled to Christ coming into the story. Lewis came at a time where he knew that Ransom needed it, just as Christ came when He knew that His people needed Him. I'm not 100% if Lewis knew what he was doing or that it would be interpreted this way, but I'm going to assume that he did, for he was a very clever man, especially when it came to his writing style. Anyways, Jesus came into the story for us, and thus after Him came the Holy Spirit. He came knowing that this world needed Him, knowing that His people depended on Him to finish their own story.
