Chronicles of Narnia 4
Matthew 7:13 “Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that
leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many." As I was thinking back to the Chronicles of Narnia, and interesting comparison came across my mind pertaining to the physical wardrobe through which you can enter the other world. I think that Lewis might have been using some christian symbolism by this door. He says that the gate to salvation is narrow and that few enter, since the way that leads to destruction is much more wide. The way of the world will always be the easier way to go, but the narrow path is the one that we must seek to find. Similarly, in the Chronicles of Narnia, the wardrobe acts as a very narrow gate into another world. Many people in the world may be seeking such fantasies and escapes from the real world that they are living in, but the gate to the other world's is narrow and few come across it. Just a thought that came to my mind as I was thinking about this series.
