Myth of Lewis

The beast-table has, of course, a connexion with fairy-stories. Beasts and birds and other creatures often talk like men in real fairy-stories. In some part (often small) this marvel derives from one of the primary desires that lie near the heart of Faerie: the desire of men to hold communion with other living things (On Fairy-Stories 46). The obvious connection here is with the Chronicles of Narnia and the harmony between the humans and all of the other animals. They all talk to each other and live as they are all one. It is interesting on this point about the desire of men to hold communion with other living things. I don't know to what extent this is really true, I mean maybe besides dogs and cats I dont know much people want to have communion with other beings like portrayed in this thought. But that is just me I can't speak for everyone.
