"Do you mean really to join us, young man?" said Straik. "There is no turning back once you have set your hand to the plough. And there are no reservations. The Head has sent for you. Do you understand-the head? You will look upon the one who was killed and is still alive. The resurrection of Jesus in the Bible was a symbol: tonight you shall see what it symbolized." (Page 174). This section reminded me of Luke 9:62, Jesus said to him, “No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.” I think that the message of salvation is often sugarcoated to ensure greater success. Too often we see people think they are followers of Jesus, just because they raised their hand during or prayed a specific prayer one time. This verse and quote directly hit on this point though, referencing what it means to be saved in Jesus. When we accept Jesus truly, we are born again. Truth faith in Jesus will result in our lifestyle changing because we love our Father. There is no turning back, we cannot cling to the things of the past. This is not to say that we are automatically perfect or that merit is the key to salvation. But, after we experience and believe that Jesus has raised from the dead and is the Son of God, our life should turn into one that is constantly being molded into one that mirrors Jesus to an increasing extent. We must not overlook and take for granted that the "Head" has sent and called for us. If maintain our reverence for the "Head" and continue to grow in Him, it will prevent us from looking back.
