Myth as Truth

In class on Tuesday, November 29, we went around and discussed our growth over the past semester in this class. When it came to me, I knew what I had grown most in -- analyzing myth for more than just fiction. I have found that there is Truth that can be found in fiction, I just have to be able to use practical analogies that align with what the book is saying. For example, the most explicit Truth found in myth over the last semester is Aslan being a symbol for Jesus-- His life, death, and resurrection. Moreover, Lewis attempted to use myth to appeal to his readers' reason; whether it was adults or children, he attempted to show Truth through fiction to them all. To adults, any book he wrote could be read and understood in a Christian frame. For children, he wrote books such as Narnia to help depict the Gospel story. This class has opened me up to the Truth that can be found in myth instead of solely looking for the explanation of it all on a page.
