Creation
The Magician's Nephew in the Chronicles of Narnia series gives an account of the creation of the world that we know as Narnia. There was a lack of order in everything that was happening until The Lion speaks and creates order amongst the animals and land. This mirrors the Genesis account in the Bible. God creates order by speaking to the empty world and creating a world filled with creatures, plants, air, and so much more. In both of these worlds (Narnia and Earth) the world is created by a powerful being, God and The Lion. Both of these powerful beings preexist their creation so you know that they are high beings. However in the Narnia account, Aslan was singing during the creation of his world (The Magician's Nephew, 123). I am not sure if God sang while he created our universe but I'm sure he was pleased with himself. I enjoy the way Lewis incorporates the Lion singing because the reader is able to relate to something anyone can do while performing a task that only a God can do. Something so mindless for them is something that we cannot fathom and the singing to us is mindless when doing tasks around the house. Maybe I should start singing more when I create things.
