Good
and Evil in Narnia
Good
vs. Evil is a constant theme throughout the Chronicles of Narnia. The forces on
the side of Aslan are constantly struggling against the forces of evil. Eventually,
in the last book of the series, The Last
Battle, good and evil are at their peak. A dimwitted donkey named Puzzle is
running around pretending to be Aslan under the tricking of an ape name Shift. Puzzle,
as Aslan, tricks large groups of people into fighting for the sides of evil.
Many are afraid to resist him for fear of the wrath which may fall upon them.
The King of Narnia is not fooled though and a fight against this evil force
will ensue. The traitorous donkey pretending to be Aslan is eventually found
and the King wants to kill him. Jill Pole quickly defends him though, saying
that he did not know what evil he was doing. This bring up the question of
whether something is evil if it is not known to be evil. This also brings up
the question of whether someone who is on the side of evil can be brought back
to the side of good. These two questions, being confusing in and of themselves,
begs the question of how concrete to the lines at least appear between good and evil. The lines can still be concrete but
their appearance may not be, especially with distorted vision. Aslan comes and
allows the World of Narnia to be destroyed by crushing the sun and freezing the
world thus putting an end to the evil that was caused by it.
