Danielle Benedict: Own Topic (4)
This weekend, I made a pilgrimage of sorts. At the
last minute, I jumped in the car with my classmate, Kari Martin, and we drove
to the Appalachian Mountains to volunteer at a Younglife camp. It was a spur of
the moment decision that landed me four hours west of CNU. Our main job was
serving meals in the dining hall to the high school campers. We only brought four
people from our area, compared to the forty others from schools such as VCU and
JMU. We were working with complete strangers in order to keep a camp running. It
pushed us outside of our comfort zones just to interact with and function alongside
other volunteers. The camp we worked at, Rockbridge, is a very special place to
me. It is where I started my personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I come to
Rockbridge a few times every year and it wonderful to reflect on how each time
I visit, I have changed. It is an Ebenezer to me. So here I am, in the
Rockbridge office typing this blog, remembering how good this place has been to
me and my spiritual journey.
