Personal Reflection on Writing Narnia Story: The Magician's Nephew

This writing assignment opened my eyes to the power of writing, and the helpfulness of peer review. It was an encouraging experience to receive feedback from my fellow classmates, and there was not any comment which my fellow classmates made that "blind-sided" me. Although, there was a helpful suggestion, of noting that Jadis quickly went to the other side of the wall because she saw Fledge's wings.
I thought it would be a challenging experience to create a sub-world based in Narnia. I started with the idea of wanting to write about Jadis's journey to the garden, and then as I wrote, my imagination unraveled and thoughts fell onto the page. It was exciting to write, and I enjoyed making sure that every detail was coherent with The Magician's Nephew
Furthermore, I disagree with Plato's opinion that poets cannot be philosophers because they create that which we do not understand. The reason is that when I think of poetry, I imagine imitations of the past or the present, that provide meaning or truth to reality. Poetry expresses the particular or what is ideal. In my opinion, poets are philosophers because they perceive the world in a distinct and unique fashion. Art provides us with more than what we can actually see.
