The Abolition of Man: Outside Reading

Throughout my life, I have heard the phrase “follow your heart.” The heart can be deceitful but following your heart can also lead you to make the right decision. C.S. Lewis describes the essence of the heart the best. In the Abolition of Man, C.S. Lewis says "No emotion is, in itself, a judgment; in that sense all emotions and sentiments are alogical. but they can be reasonable or unreasonable as they conform to Reason or fail to conform. The heart never takes the place of the head: but it can, and should, obey it." We shouldn't be afraid of life's challenges or the many decisions that await us. As long as our intentions are good, we should always trust our heart and have faith in God. "As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man" (Esv Bible, Proverbs. 27.19). It is difficult to do, but we must try and trust in the unknown.
